Hey there guys! I am so, so, so, SO sorry I haven't updated my blog in forever. Merry late Christmas/Hanukkah/Kwanzaa/ETC. and Happy late New Year! Yay for 2008!
I can't recall much of the rest of the summer, but I'll start at Christmas. =) My Christmas was... okay. I got a USB Drive* (which I really wanted!), a Taylor Swift CD (she's so great! I'm listening to the CD now), a.. scrunchie maker (I got that from my aunt's family - Not the best present. Very vintage), a Nintendo DS (hurray! With CSI:Crime Scene Investigation and Animal Doctor games), and some candy. My Christmas was reasonably okay. I've had better though. I was extremely happy to get the USB Drive and Nintendo DS. ^^
Some amount of days before Christmas my dad got a brand new computer! We got some new furniture too! Two huge TVs (one is a plasma), a neat desk (which the computer's on), a new computer (a monitor this time! I'm using it now), and a new camera!! I'm very happy. =D
Also, before that (I just keep backing up!), my friend Katie and I attempted a webshow. Like the TV show iCarly, but since at that time we didn't have a video camera we just used the voice recorder under Accesories I believe. I was happy with it. We got some funny... "material". Not all of it's that funny though. Maybe I'll post a link to the files sometime. Or you can just send me a message saying that you would like to hear it! ^^
Thanks to all those who sent me messages. I enjoy them so much! I got a wonderful message from someone and it just makes me so happy to see that I sound interesting to some people. I'm a bit odd sometimes, but it's nice to see that someone doesn't mind that. ^^ So, basically I just love getting messages!
Anyway, back on topic. This New Year's I went to my friend Katie's house where we had metallic party hats, "blowers"* (I don't know their official name), movies (Dodgeball and maybe another movie. I can't remember), and sparkler bombs*. It was an AMAZING New Year's! I loved it. ^^ Oh and of course we had some sparkling cider (I drank nearly all of it! xD). What's New Year's Eve without sparkling cider?
Recently, I have gotten back on Neopets (I know, I know, I'm a nerd) and have kind of strayed away from Craftster. GASP! I do still occasionally get on it though. If a few rare people do get on Neopets, here are my various accounts:
-candiceroxrsox06 (Dedicated to my friend Candice)
-ratfreakfriend10 (I once had a pet rat [Named Rufus xD])
-girlroleplayer
-theroleplayer (Kind of repetetive, but I LOVE to roleplay)
So, send me a neomail sometime. I mainly have all those accounts for the many guilds I like. ^^ I will admit I'm a guild hopper, but I'm trying to break the habit. I think it's just the feeling of being "tied down" or something. Oh well. *shrugs* Oh and if anyone would like to roleplay with me sometime (I really like fantasy, but any other kind of roleplay is fine) feel free to message me about it. I will respond ASAP. =)
USB Drive: A small portable drive (a thumb drive is another name for it) that you can store information on. I have a few folders for text documents, images, programs, etc.
Blowers: Cone shaped noise maker type toys with a mouth piece you can blow into to make noise. The one I used was metallic and had various thin metallic ribbons on the end.
Sparkler bombs: WARNING: Shh!! They're a bit dangerous and the cops might catch you. No one say anything about this! They are extremely loud and a bit dangerous (as are all "fireworks"), so keep your distance and keep them away from flamable items. I'd say stay at least about 50 feet away.
To make them you just get a TON of sparklers (the more sparklers the louder the boom), some electrical tape (I don't know if duct tape works), twine (or I guess other "organic" string), and something to use as a fuse or "wick" (a broken sparker works great). First, just bundle all the sparklers together in your hand and tightly tie the twine around them. Then wrap the electrical tape tightly around them. Put maybe 2 layers of it. Then take it where you're going to set it off, light the fuse, and RUN! If you want to know just how the sparkler bomb works, message me. ^^
Hello again everybody! I had a terrific time at camp! By the way, the name of it is Camp Woodland Hills. Everybody is always nice, the food is amazing, and the activities they have there are great as well! We had campfire (we sat around a campfire and sang songs and did skits), "electives" (Songwriting, Crafts, Video Production, and Camp Log [where they designed the camp log given to everybody at the end of camp]), a dance (the dance was AMAZING! No churchy songs there. xD), and the best food.
The whole week I participated in the crafts class, which was really fun. The first project we did was hemp jewelry, and let me say that was awesome! I had never used hemp before that. Our next project was really cool too! We made these little book things. I think they were called Slot and Tab books or something? Anyway, we also made a cover for them using watercolor paper, watercolors, and stamps (with the ink). I really like how mine turned out. In the end I learned that hemp isn't for me (I messed up on TWO necklaces), and that I'm better at watercolor than I thought.
The activities were super fun! Everyday we would go swimming in the pool they had there (an INGROUND pool!!!). I loved swimming there! Everyday we would have an all-camp activity too. Some of the games we played were Ships and Sailors, Dodgeball, Jack and Jill Baseball, and Capture the Flag with waterballoons! My favorite games (okay the only ones I participated in, since you don't have to play, you just have to be there) were Capture the Flag and Dodgeball. Dodgeball was pretty easy considering the whole time (since I'm small and supposedly "cute") the older teens kept saying, "But I don't want to hit Star. She's so cute and small!" That all changed after I whacked them with a ball. Then it was, "Oh, so that's how it is? GET HER!" Then everyone began to go for me. xD
I love, love, loved the food there! We had foods like biscuits and gravy, pancakes, oatmeal, cereal, french toast, monkey bread, strawberry shortcake, sloppy joe type things, roast beef, a salad bar, baked potatoes, an italian night (butter noodles, bread sticks, and chicken parmesan), and much more! I can't really recall what we had for dinner each night, but I do remember I ate tons every night! Well, except the bake potato night. They smelled weird and tasted weird, which made me want to puke. Ugh. Anyway, I loved camp! IT WAS AMAZING! Bye now!
Hey everyone! Thanks for checking in on my blog! You guys are the best, and I love getting comments, so please do comment! Anyway, recently I've gone to a baseball game, knitted, and today I'm going to camp! Well, read on to find out about them.
A couple days ago (Friday), I went to a Cardinals baseball game with my dad, my brother, and my sister. It was a lot of fun except for the end when my sister and I got in a fight. None of us ever get along, but like I said, the baseball game went pretty smooth. Albert Pujols wasn't doing so well out there and neither was Barry Bonds (people boo'd him every time he stepped up to plate xD). As you might be able to tell, we played the San Francisco Giants. Sadly, at the end of the game we lost 3-4. At least it was a close game!
My knitting has been going very well. I haven't gotten that far on it, but I still think it's doing fairly well. I ripped out everything a couple of times, but even if it's not perfect, I'm not going to rip it out anymore. Or at least I plan not to. Speaking of knitting for my swap, I will probably be sending late for one of my private ones. Oh well. Only a day or two late anyway.
Lastly, today I'm going to camp! I leave at 1:00PM so, sayonara! I'll see everyone in a week! This will be my first year in the Youth Camp "section" at this camp, so I'm really excited! I have been to this camp before (my friend invites me every year), but only once two years ago (2005). I didn't go last year because my friend invited someone else and I didn't want to camp with them (we don't get along). Anyway, I'm sure to have fun. Bye!
Hello again everybody! I'm sorry I keep posting a few days later than most of these "events" happen. I just forget a lot. Anyway, yesterday (4th of July) I was in a big parade! I played the cymbols in the band. It was fun, but at the same time the most miserable day of my life. I had to march carrying 3 pound cymbols in 100 degree weather for an hour, but like I said, it was also really fun and there were people walking around with water bottles, so I was nice and hydrated. Another reason it was so horrible was because I felt like I jumped in a pool.. of sweat. That was the most I've ever sweat.. or drank Gatorade..
Now to my knitting! The day before the parade, I went to Wal-Mart with my dad, looking for some khaki shorts for the parade (it was part of our "dress code"). Well, after finding and grabbing some awesome camoflage khakis, my dad said he wanted to check out the electronics section, so I pounced on the oppertunity to look at some of the crafts.. and give him my "puppy dog face" to get him to buy me some. After looking at the yarn and needles and other things, he came over and I "worked my magic". In the end, I got me some knitting needles, yarn needles, and lovely yarn! So, now I know how to knit, not very well, but knit. I'm hoping to prove those people wrong, who said a knitted sock monkey would be too hard. And I might be in over my head, but hey, that's me! I hope it turns out at least decent! Wish me luck, bye!
Hey everybody! A couple days ago I began to learn how to knit.. or at least kind of learn how to knit. I don't actually have needles and yarn yet. I went to www.KnittingHelp.com and started watching the videos there to learn how to knit. I have the basics memorized, like how to cast-on, actually knit, purl, and bind-off. I also learned how to seam since I would like to make a sock monkey for my swap. SHHH!! Don't tell! I plan on making a cute multicolored sock monkey, with a little mini story about it attached. =] I hope I do okay on it and I hope the recipient likes it.
I am also going to learn how to make "professional" necklaces using ribbon, clasps, and beads. I saw these amazing ribbon necklaces on Craftster and I was inspired to make some for my swap as well. I hope they turn out okay too! I'm terrified! Time is ticking away and I have only six days left to finish and send out for my first swap.
The last thing I am learning, or wanting to learn, is polymer clay sculpting. I want to be as good as my friend kishcrafts. Her poly-clay items are amazing! I was never good with molding/sculpting things. I hope my first couple poly-clay "trinkets" turn out okay, as I hope for ever craft I start out at. Well, bye!
P.S. Please feel free to send me links, lessons, help, etc. on these crafts in the meantime!
Hello! After I had posted Multiple Task Day, something else, that I consider blog worthy, happened... *drumroll* I GOT A NEW PUPPY! =D Okay, so it's not my puppy. It's my mom's boyfriend's puppy, but either way, I went with him to pick it up, and I helped name it. It is a female black lab puppy named Pepper. She is 7 weeks old and is such a mellow little pup. We gave her a bath and surprisingly, she didn't freak out, and after that all the neighborhood kids came over, wanting to see the puppy. She is such a sweetie, and has the most adorable face! I hope she's happy in her new home.
Hey everyone! Recently I signed up for my first real swap, along with another personal swap, so I'm "struggling" to get everything done. I am almost done with my first personal swap. Just a couple more things to get done since I scrapped a few things that were not satisfactory. I hope she likes what I'm sending her! I have 1/3 of a project done for my second swap, though I have a bunch of ideas of what to make. This personal swap is a Twilight swap! How could I pass that up? Anyway, I also hope she likes what I make her. We both plan to spoil each other in this one, so I'm very excited! My third and first real "public" swap, is the Newbie Swap! Which is perfect, considering I'm a newbie at swapping. My partner and I have a lot in common, which is great, and I can't wait to start crafting for her! I just have a bunch of ideas jotted down that I could use in any swap, so I'm ready! In other news, I am going to church camp for six days, starting July 8th. So, I'll be getting back the 14th. This will interfere with my swapping, but I plan on sending out my things for the first swap before I leave for camp, working on some knitting for my Newbie Swap at camp, and well, crafting for my second swap when I get back. I might just bring an extra bag full of craft supplies to work on some things. Well, that's what's going on. Bye! P.S. Sorry for not posting for a while; I've been busy with MySpace and Craftster.

Hello, everybody! Today was a fine day. I went to Michaels, joined a real swap last night, not a private one, and am now waiting anxiously for my swap to fill up so I can get my partner. =) I also started working on the stuff for my personal swap as well. So far I've got the outside of the tin decorated and lovely and am baking some salt dough* as we speak. I will post a picture here when my tin is done and will be waiting for comments!
I am also going to make a wish list, as I cannot get a Wist. I don't feel like explaining the reason again, so my next post will be my official wish list for swaps and such. Well, this post is kind of short, but my wish list should make up for it! Bye now!
Salt dough: Dough similiar to polymer clay, consisting of flour, water, and salt. (Contact me for the "recipe" or information.)
Hello again! Before I get to today, let me rewind back to yesterday: Chelsea slept over, she let me raid her room, and we ended up with three bags full of stuff. Okay, now back to today: Well, all three bags of things that (I think) could be used for some sort of craft are in my, now messy, room.
I'm trying to figure out what to make for a swap and those three bags should help a bit. The swap is a personal one, seeing that my "time limit" on Craftster isn't up yet, and the theme is Altoid Tins. For those of you reading this and possibly wanting to help me (leave a comment or message or email me), each person in the swap (me and my "partner") are to make a list of five things we would like the theme of our Altoid tin to be. The tin can be bought from the store and can be a maximum of 4"x4" width/length and 1" deep. Her five themes, that I may choose from, are: Victorian Style Keys, Cherry Blossoms, Fairies, Islands, and Kawaii (Japanese word that means like, "cutesy" or something). Any questions, contact me by message, email, or ask in a comment to this post.
I saw Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer today, and I must say, it was GREAT!! I'm waiting anxiously for the next book in my favorite series, Eclipse, right now, along with the arrival of July 4th! I love fireworks! Well, please help with my swap-block problem above and thank you for reading this!
Hey star, nice so far! read more
